A Great Time On Wheeling Lights Trip
On Wednesday, December 9th, Twenty-eight seniors, including eight who had not been on our trips before, left Parkersburg to go to Wheeling to shop and see the lights! Pastor Joe led us in a devotion time which included reading Luke 2:10-12 and Matthew 1:21 and then passing out a handout entitled "Ways to Keep Christ in Christmas". We spend some time discussing the ten suggestions and came up with some of our own. He then finished by reading a humorous question and answer piece on "Why I Like Retirement". Janet Kerr also led us in a game about Christmas time questions and answers. We arrived at Cabelas and went shopping there and several other stores in the complex. We also ate lunch at Cabelas. At 12:30PM we left the stores and arrived at Oglebay in Wheeling! We spent several hours touring the Oglebay Mansion and Museum, the Hilltop shops, the Carriage House Glass Museum and the Good Zoo Winter Fantasy(which included two laser light shows-one inside and one outside, an incredible train display, and several animals from the forest).
At 6PM, we ate an awesome dinner buffet at the Wilson Lodge Restaurant and concluded our time by going on a guided tour of the Oglebay Festival of Lights. This was the 25th anniversary of the light tour! We arrived back at the church at 10:30, tired, windblown and stuffed! However, we enjoyed every minute of our time together and really had a great time of connecting to each other in the Lord!
